this american life

I have been a relatively new listener of NPR.  My brother was an avid listener.  Something about that made me suspicious of it.  But it's been a few years now and I am in love with 89.3 KPCC.  That's the local public radio station that carries NPR among its own local coverage.  I've been a supporter for a year now and I really need to renew my membership just renewed my membership!

One program everyone loves is "This American Life."  I've driven around the block and parked in my driveway listening intently to the stories; not wanting to miss a second.  Almost as much as I love the radio program do I love Ira Glass, the host.  His geeky chic look, his vernacular voice (if vernacular could become an adjective), and of course his dark rimmed glasses.  Anyway, I designed a shirt for the show.  Just something that I imagined could be sold in their merch store online.  Something simple that doesn't exactly scream "PUBLIC RADIO!" but is sort of an inside joke to the fans and who know of Ira.  I had it made and mailed it to the show with a letter for admiration and loyalty.

Who knows if anyone will even read it.  But hopefully someone from the show is wearing my shirt.

you do drugs?!!

I made a poster today.  I guess I made the most of being in bed.

i'm part of the club now

I'm officially part of the 30 club.  I dragged myself out of bed and donned my birthday best to enjoy my birthday filled with surprises and wonderful friends and family.

I've ushered in the third decade of my life by leaving work in a rush whilst in a coughing fit to go see my physician and immediately be prescribed antibiotics and another day off from work (how many more precious vacation days must be sacrificed?!?!?).  Yup, this is exactly how I imagined my 30's would be...

icky sicky

I slept 15 hours today.  Sore throat + funny tummy = no fun for me.  Hoping a day off of work and a teapot full of tea will help.  Being sick sucks.

etsy love for fall

I'm loving this drizzly weather.  It reminds me of Seattle or Portland.  I can imagine myself snuggling up in a plush couch next to a fireplace drinking tea with my honey wearing a comfy zip-up and cozy slippers

they feed us

Well, they certainly know how to feed us.  4 more days of eating like this and they'll have to roll me in to the plane.  Why does Asian hospitality always have to involve insane amounts of food?!

postcard from china

We visited the wholesale district today.  Endless shops that sell ribbon, buttons, rhinestones, fabric, felt, and every other imaginable thing.  Here's but a small portion of different bolts of felt that we saw in one shop.

omg

Ok, seriously....this video kind of scared me but it's strangely hypnotic.  As in, I had to watch the entire tutorial.  Maybe I should do this for Halloween....maybe not.  I think I'd scare myself.

Oh, and yes, this is what I do while in China - search for strange youtube videos.  ;D

chi-town, day 4.5

Something really great about Chicago is that there are forest preserves all around.  It's a really wonderful idea for a city to have them.  The weather was perfect for a walk in the woods so Mark and I went to Busse Woods Forest Preserve.  We saw several elk at a safe distance and luckily we were separated by a fence.  It's such a peaceful place to walk or bike while being surrounded by beauty.

chi-town, day 4

Where can you get the best cup of coffee in Chicago or anywhere for that matter?  Intelligentsia.  Take a look at this spectacularly crafted caffè latte.

Good to the last drop!  Starbucks has nothing on this place.  Luckily we have a shop of our very own!  Unfortunately it's all the way in Pasadena.

The beginnings of fall have taken hold in Chicago but we were able to find some last few traces of summer still lingering around.
