brought to you by pinterest

via www.pinterest.com

This poster is not designed by me.  I saw this on Pinterest, here, and thought, "Sigh, how true.  How very true." Unfortunately for me I've been stuck at the title, "How Would You Like Your Graphic Design?" since I moved to IL 8 months ago (still no graphic design leads).  I miss ALL my old co-workers at Me and My Big Ideas!  Hope you guys are having a great showing at CHA this year!  Make that paper (pun intended)!

double header

Here are some projects I've worked on for a tradeshow in the Netherlands. It's just to exhibit some ideas on how to use our products. Headbands seem to be all the rage right now and you could easily make a custom one for yourself using paper. The small rose one is on a hair clip. I used MAMBI's new Holiday collection products found at Jo-Ann stores. I know, I know, Christmas in August is BS.

Here's another one I made using our Copper Willow collection, also at Jo-Ann's. It's a fall collection so I guess that's more reasonable for this time of year. My lovely co-worker is modeling it for you!

two bridal shower cards

Oi! It's been a very busy week at work. The days have been melting into another and I'm exhausted. We had a happy break from the madness by having a bridal shower for two of our employees that are getting married this year.

Here are the cards that I made for them. The first one was for on gal who's having a beach wedding.

The second was for a gal who's having a more typical big budget wedding. Haha, this small card booklet reminds me of an English gentlewoman reading Shakespeare sonnets by the countryside.

back to school

I recently went to Target looking for some water balloons. They didn't have it and they said they had already phased out their summer items for Back-To-School stuff...this was on July 31st. What the heck, it's not even August and already we're gearing up for fall. Seems a little hasty but maybe it's because I'm overly protective of summer vacation because I don't have one anymore.

Here's a quick & easy idea for shabby chic book covers for the students...posted originally on the MAMBI blog here.

what i'm working on

here's an idea to make eating at the kid's table cool. we're going the whole nine with foiled and glittered place mats, personalized settings with a pop-up name tag and labeled cups so the germy kids don't share drinks. check out the step-by-step on the mambi blog this friday!

designed by me!

you may remember my little 'movie' soft spoken that was my first product to be sold in michael's stores last year. i forgot to share that i have another one that is in stores now and is perfect for the graduation season. use the stickers on cards, atop gifts, as a gift tag, cupcake toppers, etc etc! you'll find it at jo-ann stores only.

one of my halloween paper designs got made too! you'll see this open stock paper also in jo-ann stores starting in late july. ;P tee hee i so proud.

now go and buy the entire stock!! haha

what i'm working on

sometimes work is work. sometimes work is fun. today work is fun. i'm putting together some projects for another mambi tutorial for our website using our small talk™ embellishments.

one use is for an easy scrapbook page layout title but i've also used them for a kid's chore board. place the board on a fridge and attach magnets behind our small talk pieces to show what chore each child is supposed to do. there are so many projects i have in store of this tutorial...

day four, korean meets taiwanese meets chinese

today was sunday and it's our only day off. unfortunately no church but we did have korean bbq today! so funny, it was a korean restaurant run by taiwanese people in china. they even had kimchee jigeh! it was actually not bad.

so i've been trying to take pictures of food and buildings. sometimes it's really difficult to know what settings to do everything because i'm still getting used to my camera. i'm finding shooting people is even harder for some reason. it always comes out blurry. sigh. i guess it's a learning experience. i unfortunately have some spots on my glass too because of the rainy/humid weather. poopers.

tomorrow is monday and another day at the office.

day two, evening....wayy in the evening

lunch was at the blue bird where we had chinese version of japanese teppanyaki. it was good. another wonderful meal.

i'm getting lots of practice with my new camera while i'm here. i wish i had brought the camera book that mark bought me. sometimes the lighting is a challenge with the indoor/outdoor/cloudy situations.

here are some shots of the factory:

this is the controller board for the 5 color off-set printing press that some of our stuff is on.

this is a room full of some of the women who put the detailed pieces together by hand.

this is the screen printing machine that puts on the glitter to the stickers.

this is another screen printing machine that is doing one color passes on a foam material.

for dinner we had a very chinese dinner as well. if i translate it in english it's roughly translated to "meek-doan-ahld-suh."

observe this foreign dinner. the red box means good luck. it was salty.

this is a red bean pie! like our apple pie but with red bean. wooow. it was ok.

this is a taro pie!! TARO!! crazy crazy. it was goood. much better than the red bean. AND the pie crust is fried like the good ol' days.

by the time we left the factory it was 10pm. i love 13 hour days of work. **sidenote: it was the "meek-doan-ahld-suh" that rocked my stomach last night. the lucky red box wasn't that lucky.
