pantone color of the year : emerald

First of all, yes, I'm still alive. Second of all, it's been a while! I think I lost my blog mojo during fall when the hubby and I were apt hunting, moving, unpacking, quitting old jobs and getting new jobs, swapping out the car, adopting the in-law's dog, etc etc. A lot has happened in a short period of time but I think the dust has begun to settle and I'm getting used to my new life schedule and now I feel better about posting again. 

Ok, onto other frivolous matters like the new Pantone color of the year for 2013, Emerald! Green is my favorite color (even my engagement ring is green) and I'm very excited about 2013. I picked out some pieces on Polyvore for a little Emerald inspiration.  Even though Pantone's Emerald might remind you of cooler seasons like winter different lighter tones can be drawn from it for the perfect spring or summer pop of color. iPhone envy

Mark just got an iPhone so we went case shopping.  He ended up getting a simple case at a Sprint kiosk but here are just a few cases (I honestly had to refrain myself from continue adding to this list) that I thought were pretty cool from Society 6. Seriously, there are SO many awesome cases to choose from that it's practically impossible to make a decision on just one. Good thing I don't have an iPhone otherwise I'd be in big trouble. Unfortunately for Mark now he's tempted to get a new case. Let the decision-making begin...

looking toward spring

Pantone's color report for Spring 2012 include the colors Sweet Lilac, Cockatoo (an aqua color), Tangerine Tango (Pantone's Color of the Year), and Driftwood among others. Winter is still going strong in IL but it's nice to know that spring is coming soon.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone! Here's a color palette of blushing pink, fiery red, and playful orange that I think would fit nicely for today. Tell those you love that you love them! <3

snowy friday

It's a snowy Friday and brrr it's cold outside!  I'm definitely more of a practical gal and will gladly sacrifice "fashion" for warmth. However, if I could have both (AND if I had a different body type) I would totally wear this out tonight for dinner....we're having Portillo's.  We're so fancy, huh?  LOL

pantone color of the year : 2012

2012 has been dubbed the year of Tangerine Tango by Pantone.  I think the color is more orange and less red than what the swatch looks like in the press release (above).

Here are a few things that I pulled on Polyvore to get a feel for Tangerine Tango.  Remember that lighter shades can be drawn from the color to get a more creamy orange (reminds me of Orange Bang!) or keep it as a saturated almost tropical orange color.  Is it bad that I'm ready for spring now?
